Audience Research.

A main occurance in my research was about the aim and moral of the film, it was largely suggested to me that in such a short amount of time they found the plot was hard to pick up and follw through to make any sense of the film, it was highly claimed that "they needed to be watched more than once to be understood" What they are trying to project is that a clear and understandable plot is essential to enable them to interact fully with the events happening in my short film.
Only about fifty percent of my questionaire results showed positive that they had actually viewed a short film, this shows me that they are not easily accessible and that i should have a hands on approach when my film in completed and ''Go and show people''. However 20% of the results said they had only seen short films at the start of disney showings at the cinema from the Pixar Pixs animations. Suggestions of promoting and enhancing accessability have been to show them through main social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Myspace.
The results showed a wide variety of subjects and ideas they wanted to see in a short film, however the biggest demand was to make it interesting, by doing this it will grip the viewer and make them want to go on for themselves, "I hate it when a film is predictable" was also a highly repeated statement throughout my results which showed that many films they have seen are typical in a sense of predictablity, this is why most viewers want and unexpected twist, a sense of enigma and suspence to thrive them on interest in the film, this would be a great technique to use at there was such a high demand for this in research.
I asked in my questionairre " If you wanted to view a short film, where would you find one ?" the results seem troubled and the most common result was a vague " The Internet"  i then went on to ask "How could this awareness be increased ?".....The younger generation show in my results that increasing popularity of short film could be achieved by placing ads, free viewing or enabling purchases on sites on or through Itunes, The Playstation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace these are sites that millions of people visit daily and awareness would increase in masses.
In conclusion of my results the awareness and accessibility of short films is very low with only a 20% of people even seeing a proper short film,  however those who have, have given positive feedback about them, an increase is needed.
Finally drawing together everyones views, they beleive that they would watch more short films if they knew of a single specialised website where only professional films or films of a serious level are posted and up to watch, as sites like Youtube have good content but as there are millions of videos on there they are hard to find, there are also alot of fake and hoax short film entries which can be frustrating to scout through.

  1. Some good material here Robert. Again please read over your writing as you have some errors. How many people did you interview? I think you need to make that clear. Try to use the ideas behind web 2.0 to distribute your short film. State how you intend to do this based on what your target audience revealed to you.
